JAIPUR KI BAGWATI

Rama and Ranjana Aggarwal, two enterprising sisters from Jaipur, began their entrepreneurial journey with the simplest of resources—just ₹150 worth of leftover fabric from a boutique. With those scraps, they stitched their first few bags, each one uniquely designed and strikingly different from typical market offerings. The encouraging response from neighbors and local residents gave them the motivation to take their craft more seriously.

Using their first earnings of ₹8,000, they bought a sewing machine and converted a corner of their home into a small workshop. As word spread and demand grew, women from nearby homes—many seeking income and purpose—joined them. Rama and Reena trained and employed them, gradually building a close-knit, empowered team. To scale their operations, they also took a ₹5 lakh loan under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), which allowed them to expand production and invest in better infrastructure.

With consistent effort, creativity, and community support, they now design and manufacture over 100 varieties of bags, including handbags, backpacks, and eco-friendly designs that have caught the eye of customers across India and internationally.

A key turning point came when they underwent training in product development, packaging, marketing, and export documentation, equipping them to present their work at the India International Trade Fair in Delhi—an opportunity that brought them significant domestic and global orders.

Today, their startup not only supports their family but also uplifts many local women through employment. Their story is a powerful reminder that with resilience, innovation, and heart, even the humblest beginnings can grow into something extraordinary.
